Where to find the University Library as of August this year.

The Central Library across from the Mensa makes way for a new building on the same site. On August 6, the Central Library will open for the last time; as of August 7, the media will move to new locations.

Here we briefly summarize the most important information for students and researchers in the Department of Business and Economics.

Which library locations will be important for me in the future?

  • Opening hours: Mon - Fri from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Sat from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • Here you can find among others the textbooks (signatures L Fa, L Fg etc.)
  • 300 study places
  • Provision of
    • earmarked (reserved) books
    • Interlibrary loan orders
    • Orders from the storage magazine

Sebrath Library: Economics books - from 21.08.2023

  • Address: Sebrathweg 7, 44149 Dortmund, Germany
  • Opening hours from 21.08.2023: Mon - Fri from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Sat - Sun from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Here you can find among others the newer books of the signature group F
  • 240 study places

How do I get to the Sebrath Library?

The library at Sebrathweg 7 houses science, engineering and business books during the construction of the new Central Library and opens August 21, 2023, located between the Technology Center and Indupark. In addition to getting there by bike or car, bus line 465 also stops there, which you can take from the Technologiezentrum or Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Straße stops, for example.

Where can I learn in the future?

In addition to the new Sebrath Library, which opens on Aug. 21, learning spaces are offered by the existing learning spaces on campus as well as the additional learning spaces set up during the year on the North and South Campuses and in the city center. Tha library offers an overview of all TU Dortmund campus study areas.

Where can I find printed books and magazines?

You can still find all of our media - print or digital - through the catalog plus. What is new is that the printed media will be located in different locations in the future:

  • Newer books of the signature group F will be located in the Sebrath Library(Sebrathweg 7).
  • The textbook collection, i.e. books with the signatures L Fa, L Fg etc. as well as the current issues of our printed journals will be housed in the Emil-Figge-Bibliothek: Emil-Figge-Str. 50, 1st floor.
  • Older and rarely needed books as well as bound volumes of printed journals are housed in a storage magazine off campus. Order such items through catalog plus and pick them up the next business day at the Emil Figge Library.
  • As before, we prefer to purchase eBooks. Missing an important book? Feel free to send us an acquisition suggestion.

Why do I have to order some books from the storage magazine?

Unfortunately, the Sebrath Library, as an interims building until the new building is completed, does not offer the same space as the old Central Library. In order to be able to offer you learning spaces at the Sebrathweg, older and rarely used works are stored in a storage magazine off campus. You can order these media via Katalog plus and pick them up the next working day at the Emil-Figge-Bibliothek at Emil-Figge-Str. 50, 1st floor.

I have further questions. Where can I get more information?

You can find more information in TU's FAQ, on the library's construction blog and Instagram account, or by talking to us directly.
