International mobility
Internationality in research and teaching can involve many facets. In addition to the latest news on international mobility and the Erasmus+ program, we have compiled further helpful information here. Whether you want to go to a host university as a teacher, invite visiting scholars, or plan an international research stay, here is an overview of some of the areas that can support you.
Conferences and Research Stays
TU Dortmund University's Research Support Services offer an overview of different funding formats that can be used to support international travel and stays.
Possible funding programs are presented for:
- participation in conferences and congresses
- shorter (up to 12 months) and longer research stays (over 12 months)
- guest stays of international researchers
- the exchange of researchers
The office offers support with choosing the right program as well as the application process.
Erasmus+ Teaching Staff Mobility
Funded by the Erasmus+ program, teachers can take up guest lectureships at one of our partner universities. These are generally short stays of a few days or weeks. Lecturers from our partner universities can also teach at our department as guests.
These guest lectureships are intended to strengthen the links between the universities as well as the European dimension of the host university. Students can be provided with specialized knowledge from other European universities and the range of courses can be expanded.
The exchange offers a good opportunity for teachers to pass on their expertise beyond the borders of their own university and to receive new impulses in turn.
This can also strengthen their own international profile and the development of an international network. Other possible goals can be, for example, the preparation of future cooperation projects or joint study programs.
A prerequisite for the exchange is that staff mobility has been included in the Erasmus agreement between the universities. This is the case with a large number of our partners. You are welcome to contact the department's Erasmus coordination to ask if this is the case for a particular partner university.

Erasmus+ Staff Mobility
In addition to mobility for teaching staff, the Erasmus program also enables non-scientific staff to receive funding for a period abroad. The goal here is the internationalization of the work area and the expansion of international networks. Staff members can gain new perspectives and strengthen their competencies through the professional exchange. The exchange also enables the development of international networks.
The mobility project can, for example, take the form of job shadowing or participation in workshops, seminars or courses. The program is aimed at non-academic employees of the administration and central institutions of TU Dortmund University as well as departmental Erasmus coordinators.
