Two contributions to the annual conference of the Platform Privacy 2024 "Freedom in digital infrastructures"
It was with great enthusiasm that we took part in this year's 9th annual conference of the Platform Privacy from October 16th to 18th, 2024 in Berlin.
The Opt-IN team – represented by Mario Göbel (Vreeda GmbH), Dominik Kirchhoff (logarithmo GmbH & Ko. KG), Annika Hesse and Alexander Rogalla (both from TU Dortmund University) – was able to contribute to the annual conference of the Plattform Privatheit with two contributions.
On the first day, Mario Göbel represented us in the panel discussion "Digital Freedom: Which? Whose? And by what means?", in which he contributed the exciting view of the corporate perspective to the discussion. On the second day of the event, Alexander Rogalla presented our research poster "On the way to data sensitization - What do smart home and smart city mean for citizens?". In the research poster, the research team Alexander Rogalla, Björn Konopka, Prof. Dr. Manuel Wiesche and Prof. Dr. Simon Hensellek analyzed the concerns and uncertainty of citizens regarding smart home and smart city services and their data security. The team found that citizens do not have a clear idea of smart homes and smart cities in particular, so more educational and awareness-raising work should be done.
This year's annual conference of the Privacy Platform was dedicated to the topic of "Freedom in digital infrastructures". The focus was on topics such as data protection, privacy and digital security. Presentations, panel discussions and workshops gave us new impetus and food for thought. The exchange of ideas, best practices and solutions were discussed and further developed.
We are already looking forward to the next events and to continuing to play an active role in shaping a free and data protection-compliant digital world.
A big thank you to the team of the annual conference Platform Privacy – you did a great job!
