Study Profiles in the Master's Program
The five study profiles of the Master's degree program enable students to acquire specific skills in various facets of economics. By flexibly combining modules from the individual profiles, they can create an individual, comprehensive and practice-relevant skills profile that optimally prepares them for their future career path.
This profile enables students to make well-founded decisions in companies and institutions. They acquire an in-depth and practice-oriented understanding of central business processes in the areas of finance, accounting, controlling and taxation.
Modern econometric methods, the consideration of current findings, for example in digitalization and artificial intelligence, and a high level of practical relevance provide the perfect basis for a successful career start in business or research.
The profile enables students to successfully manage companies and employees in a globalized environment. They acquire a sound, practice-oriented understanding of the design of future-oriented working environments, international marketing and the complex interrelationships of global value chains.
Through the intensive examination of current research results and the application of scientific methods, students are optimally prepared for management positions in international corporations, medium-sized companies, start-ups or for an academic career.
Students are prepared for the challenges of digital transformation and learn how to develop innovative business models and successfully manage interdependent processes in start-ups and established companies. They acquire comprehensive knowledge in the areas of new technologies, process design and entrepreneurship.
The high practical relevance of this profile is further strengthened by cooperation with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Transfer (CET) and the Dlab at TU Dortmund University. This opens up a wide range of career opportunities for graduates in a dynamic working environment, whether in innovative start-ups or established companies. Thanks to the sound methodological and theoretical training, they are also optimally prepared for an academic career.
The study profile provides a profound understanding of economic interrelationships - from the analysis of individual decisions to the evaluation of macroeconomic developments. Students deepen their knowledge in specialized areas such as financial markets, regional economic structures and the application of quantitative methods.
The focus is on linking scientific approaches with real-life issues. Through the application of software tools and statistical methods, students develop strong analytical skills that optimally prepare them for demanding career paths in banks, ministries or international organizations.
This profile is purely in English and allows students to flexibly design their studies according to their own interests and strengths. As a result, students not only deepen their knowledge of economics, but also improve their English language skills in a business context.
This combination ensures that graduates are optimally prepared for an international career. They qualify for management positions in international corporations, start-ups, management consultancies, international organizations and research.
