Course of Studies

The Master's program is designed for four semesters and divided into 13 modules. Master's students can choose between five study profiles, depending on their areas of interest and professional goals.

Three of the study profiles focus on different areas within business administration: Business A: Accounting & Finance, Business B: Management & Organizations and Business C: Digitalization & Entrepreneurship. The fourth profile - Economics - focuses on the field of economics. Students with one of these study profiles focus on modules within their own profile, but also acquire knowledge from other profiles. The internationally oriented fifth profile, Business and Economics, is structured differently. Students take modules from all subject areas, which are offered in English.

Business A - C and Economics

In these study profiles, students choose six modules within their own study profile so that they can tailor their Master's degree program to their own interests and needs. At least two modules are chosen outside the study profile in order to provide the broadest possible education and knowledge in other areas of economics.

Three further modules can be chosen freely so that students can focus more on their own profile or structure their studies as broadly as possible. A total of at least two seminars must be taken - whether as a module in your own study profile or in another profile.

In addition to the 11 modules from study profiles, the econometrics module is an important component of the degree course. This module deals with the quantification of economic relationships, tools for testing hypotheses and forecasting future developments.

The final module follows in the fourth semester: the Master's thesis. This is usually written as part of the chosen study profile. Part of the module is also a presentation, which usually takes place after submission of the thesis.

Business & Economics

In the Business and Economics study profile, students choose modules from the English-language offerings in the module handbook. A total of 12 modules are taken before the Master's thesis is written and a presentation given in Module 13. In consultation with the supervising professor, the Master's thesis can also be written in English.

At least two seminars must also be taken in this study profile.

The module handbook indicates the language in which the individual modules are offered. A quick overview of the modules can also be found on our homepage in the International section for the winter and summer semesters.
