Presentation of the Teaching Innovation Award 2024/2025

The student representatives of the Committee for Improving the Quality of Teaching have announced the winners of the Teaching Innovation Award 2024/2025 in the categories"Practical Relevance", "Internationalization" and "E-Learning". The awards went to:

In the field of practical relevance: Prof. Dr. Andreas Hoffjan and Laura Packheiser for the bachelor's course “Instruments of Controlling.” The course impresses with its practical combination of theoretical content and concrete application examples, as well as a voluntary case study assignment. Particularly noteworthy are the exercises with a clear focus on application and the high level of commitment on the part of the teaching staff. Individual support for learning success, for example through one-minute papers followed by feedback, promotes personal reflection and further development among students.
In the field of internationalization: Prof. Dr. Steffen Strese for the bachelor's course “Innovation and Growth Management.” The English-language course brings TU students together with international exchange students. A flipped classroom concept with videos and additional materials promotes flexible learning. The international composition of the groups allows for a multi-perspective examination of issues relating to innovation and growth. International case studies and guest lectures strengthen technical and intercultural skills.
In the field of e-learning: Prof. Dr. Andreas Hoffjan and Alina Bieniek for the bachelor's course “Cost Accounting & Controlling.” The KoCo Quiz app is used for targeted exam preparation, promoting individual learning through gamified elements (such as jokers and leaderboards) and two game modes. A training mode with immediate feedback and an exam mode that simulates real exam situations enable effective knowledge consolidation. Weekly Zoom office hours round out the digital learning concept.

The faculty congratulates the winners and encourages all faculty members to bring suitable courses to the attention of the QVM Commission for the Teaching Innovation Award 2025/2026. Suggestions and applications can be submitted by email to the chairperson of the QVM Commission.
