Participation in the 21st International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI 2026) in Linz

The image displays the logo and wordmark for the 21st International Conference on Business Informatics. On the left side, there is a light green square icon with rounded corners. Inside this square, the year "2026" is written in a smaller white font in the upper left corner. Below it, occupying the lower section of the square, is the abbreviation "Wi" in a large, bold white font. To the right of this icon is a left-aligned, three-line text in the same light green color as the square. The first line reads "21. Internationale Tagung", the second line is "Wirtschaftsinformatik", and the third line specifies the date and venue: "6.9. - 10.9.2026 JKU Linz". © WI 2026

The professorship Digital Transformation will present a study at the 21st International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI 2026). The conference will take place in September 2026 in Linz, Austria.

We are very pleased to have the opportunity to present our paper at the 21st International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik in September. The WI is one of the leading academic conferences in the field of Information Systems and provides an important forum for discussing current developments at the intersection of digitalization, organization, and society.

At WI 2026, we will present the following research paper:

More Prompts, More Problems: A Persuasive Design for Pro-Environmental Behavior in Image Generation
Authors: Kay Hönemann, Fabian Helms, Manuel Wiesche

In this paper, we investigate how digital nudges can encourage users of text-to-image systems to adopt a more environmentally conscious approach to generative AI. Given the high resource demands of generative AI systems, the study analyzes, in a scenario-based online experiment with 203 participants, how different persuasive design mechanisms influence usage behavior. The results show that a nudge based on social rejection reduced the number of image generations by 24%, while a fear nudge increased the intention to reduce unnecessary image generations in the future by up to 22%.

We are eagerly looking forward to the conference and are excited about the fascinating presentations, stimulating discussions, and the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from the Information Systems community.
