Our Master's degree is ideal for you if you are aiming for a career in senior management positions or in scientific research. Thanks to its strong practical focus, the option of acquiring additional certifications, and the development of methodological skills, the program offers you a perfect springboard for your career - whether in a company, a start-up or in research.
Our program is not only aimed at Bachelor's graduates in economics. Even if you have completed your studies in a related subject area, you can consolidate and expand your economic foundation with our degree program. Examples of related degree programs are

The structure of the degree program
Our four-semester Master's degree program offers you five flexible study profiles. Three of the profiles focus on different facets of business administration, while another profile is dedicated to economics. You can actively shape your studies according to your interests and career goals by combining modules from your chosen profile with supplementary modules from other areas.
In the fifth study profile, Business and Economics, you can choose freely from our range of English-language courses and thus prepare for a successful start to an international career.

Study profiles:
More than just a degree
In addition to your studies, the department and TU Dortmund University offer you many opportunities to develop personally, gain new experiences and make the time until graduation exciting.
Our students are involved in university politics, student councils or in one of the many university groups. The university sports facilities and the international campus are very popular. Part-time jobs can be found on campus and in the surrounding area. The degree course can also provide the perfect setting for internships or stays abroad. There are also many opportunities to develop soft skills, build up language skills and acquire certificates.
Application, enrollment and start of studies
Start your Master's degree program flexibly in the winter or summer semester, provided you have a relevant Bachelor's degree with above-average grades (at least 2.5 or ECTS B). In addition, certain credit point requirements in economics and/or related fields must be fulfilled.

So that you can get off to the best possible start to your studies, our department will support you with a preliminary econometrics course before your first lecture begins, in which you can refresh your knowledge and prepare yourself well for the start of your studies. At the beginning of the semester, the student council invites you to a welcome event and orientation week, where you can get to know your fellow students and the campus.

Career entry
If you want to get your career off to a great start after completing your Master's degree, there are many advisory services available to you at TU Dortmund University. The Campus Network Career Service provides an overview of offers and events on topics such as applications, career planning and networking. Students and graduates can also find a wide range of offers at the Center for Entrepreneurship & Transfer. The Stellenwerk Dortmund also has its own job portal.

Self-employment and starting a business

You can develop entrepreneurial skills during your studies, for example by choosing suitable modules from a wide range of options. Guest lectures by entrepreneurs, special programs, student initiatives and projects further complement this offer.
In addition, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Transfer offers a wide range of services for founders, such as advice, support in the search for funding or co-founders or special start-up programs. Students can also obtain the Certificate for Entrepreneurship through the CET.
Doctoral studies
A doctorate enables you to engage intensively with an exciting and complex field of research. It opens up excellent career prospects in science, business and the public sector.
You will receive support in all phases of your doctorate from the Graduate Center at TU Dortmund University. In addition, our department's structured doctoral program provides you with the skills you need to work independently in an academic environment.
