Contributions to the Academy of Management Annual Meeting

The Professorship for Strategic Management and Leadership participated in this year’s Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Copenhagen. At the conference, leading management scholars from around the world presented and discussed the latest findings and their implications for managers and organizations.
Members of the professorship took part in the conference in various roles. Annika Götz, together with Friederike Hawighorst (University of Passau), presented her research on the effects of CEOs’ public ingratiation on third-party observers such as investors and the media. The joint project by co-authors from the universities of Dortmund, Passau, and King’s College London demonstrates how such public ingratiation can influence CEOs’ likeability and perceived competence in the eyes of uninvolved third parties, while also pointing to potential reputational risks that may run counter to the CEOs’ original intentions. Prof. Dr. Graf-Vlachy contributed to two Paper Development Workshops on the topics of empathy in the context of ventures, as well as content and text analysis in organizational research, and provided feedback on current research projects of early-career scholars.
