Lehigh University Global Village in the USA
The Global Village has always been known for creating a truly unique atmosphere - only a few students from each country take part. In total, around 70 students from around 40 different countries work together - a true global village.
The program offers participants the opportunity to advance their careers, gain insights from world-class experts, tackle complex, system-wide problems and connect with young leaders from around the world.
Who should apply?
Students of all majors and nationalities between the ages of 19 and 27 are eligible to apply. The Village thrives on the different academic backgrounds of its participants.
Tip: TU Dortmund University is currently the only German partner, so there is little competition for the place allocated to Germany!
Application deadline:
February 7, 2025 (@Lehigh University)
Costs and scholarship:
Participation in the 7-month program costs 5,000 US dollars (including accommodation and most meals in the USA). It is possible to apply for a TU Dortmund University PROMOS scholarship of EUR 2,300 (application deadline @TUDO 7 Feb 2025)
Costs for the flight and possibly a visa should be included in addition (German citizens can travel to the USA with ESTA).
The program
Part 1 (April to June) consists of synchronous and asynchronous online sessions and introductory lessons - everything you need to know before traveling to the US and jumping right into the in-person program. You will get to know yourself and the other participants better. This phase can easily be completed alongside your studies and work.
Part 2 (July 14 to August 1) is a 3-week stay on campus in the USA. From Mondays through Saturdays, you will experience the innovative classes in sessions, workshops and field trips, all designed to teach leadership and design thinking skills and help you develop an entrepreneurial mindset to tackle the bigger issues in your community and the world.
Part 3 (September through November) will again take place virtually, with networking events (including with the 3,000+ Global Village alumni), keynote speakers, and casual gatherings with fellow participants that create a safe space to discuss world issues, conflict, social change, and what matters to you.
