Erik Wirsing, Vice President Global Innovation at DB Schenker, returned once again this year to TU Dortmund as a guest speaker in our lecture “Technology and Innovation Management.”

As a long-standing driver of innovation at DB Schenker, Erik Wirsing, Vice President Global Innovation, offered valuable insights into the future of logistics to an audience of around 250 students.

The focus of his talk was on current developments and strategic issues in the logistics industry: Which technological trends are transforming the way goods are moved? And how can companies effectively implement innovation? Erik Wirsing shared not only examples from DB Schenker’s current projects but also the mindsets and innovation processes shaping the industry in the long term. From autonomous vehicles to intelligent warehouse solutions – the logistics sector offers numerous opportunities to turn innovation into competitive advantage.

The students showed great interest and used the follow-up lecture with Corinna Schmidt to explore the topics in even greater depth. As in previous years, this will likely lead once again to opportunities for thesis collaborations and internships with DB Schenker.

We sincerely thank Erik Wirsing for his inspiring contribution and ongoing commitment – it is always a valuable experience to connect academic learning with real-world practice in this way.
