How do data protection and digital responsibility go together in times of geopolitical tensions and rapid AI developments? The 10th annual conference of the Plattform Privatheit, which took place in Berlin on October 1st and 2nd, 2025, was dedicated to the topic of "Data protection and digital policy in times of crisis".

Alexander Rogalla and Björn Konopka took part in the conference on behalf of Opt-IN and contributed to the professional exchange on data protection, AI and digital policy.

The conference was dedicated to the central questions of a digitally networked world: How can the protection of personal data and European values be preserved and the influence of artificial intelligence be shaped responsibly?
The conference thus tied in with current debates on the protection of fundamental digital rights and Europe's responsibility in global data policy.
Against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and the rapid growth of AI technologies, the role that regulation, data sovereignty and ethical guidelines must play in the future to ensure the protection of citizens and the stability of digital infrastructures in the EU was discussed.

We are already looking forward to the upcoming events and to continuing to play an active role in shaping a free and data protection-compliant digital world.

A big thank you to the team of the annual conference Plattform Privatheit for an all-round successful and inspiring exchange.
