Professor Steffen Strese is the new Dean of the Department of Business and Economics. The Department Council elected him together with Vice Dean of Finance Professor Philip Jung on May 31, 2023. The Vice Dean of Studies continues to be Professor Ludger Linnemann.

Professor Strese succeeds Professor Christiane Hellmanzik as dean, who has held the position since 2021. At the same time, Professor Peter N. Posch is stepping down as Vice Dean. During her tenure, the Department of Business and Economics embarked on a course of renewal and set itself ambitious goals with the Department Development Plan 2022-2026 in order to do even better justice to its integrative role within the university, the University Alliance Ruhr and the region. The guiding principle of service-oriented teaching and groundbreaking research was reflected in the realignment and internationalization of the teaching program as well as in diverse research collaborations and university-wide projects. The digitization of administrative processes was also successfully implemented.

The department would like to sincerely thank Ms. Hellmanzik and Mr. Posch for their dedicated and trusting cooperation.

The new dean, Professor Steffen Strese, was appointed to the professorship "Innovation Management" at TU Dortmund University in 2019. The new Vice Dean of Finance, Philip Jung, joined TU Dortmund University in 2014 and holds the professorship "Macroeconomics". Professor Ludger Linnemann, holder of the professorship "Applied Economics" continues to represent the interests of teaching as Vice Dean of Studies.

The newly composed dean's office comes into office at the right time to continue the previous successful course and to set its own accents.
