Department Mourns Passing of Prof. Dr. Egon Jehle

TU Dortmund University and the Department of Business and Economics mourn the loss of Prof. Dr. Egon Jehle, who has passed away at the age of 86.
Prof. Egon Jehle joined the former University of Dortmund in 1984 as Professor of Industrial Management. With his creative drive and high level of commitment, he contributed to the further development of the Department of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, including as Vice-Dean (1986 to 1987) and later as Dean until 1989.
In research and teaching, he set pioneering trends, particularly in the fields of production management, strategic controlling and supply chain management. He was instrumental in advancing these topics within the framework of projects in a special research area and maintained close interdisciplinary cooperation, for example with colleagues from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics. At the same time, he had a lasting impact on the development of young academics by supervising numerous doctorates, leaving behind a lasting academic legacy. Many students still vividly remember his dedicated lectures and personal exchanges with him.
TU Dortmund University and the department have lost a highly esteemed colleague in Prof. Jehle. We will honor his memory. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family.
